Design systems, communication, and digital experiences.

Most small businesses lose time to scattered files, one-off design work, and systems that were never quite built. 18 Tabs Studio helps close those gaps — with clearer communication, stronger design, and practical systems you can keep using long after a project wraps up.

Where this usually starts

Most small businesses don’t have a design problem. They have an accumulation problem — a folder of old logo files, a flyer rebuilt from scratch every time, a proposal template three people each have a slightly different copy of, a website nobody quite remembers how to update.

None of it is broken, exactly. It’s just become harder to manage as the business has grown.

18 Tabs works on that layer — organizing the pieces into something coherent enough that the next thing is easier to make than the last one.

Services

Related capabilities, not six unrelated businesses under one roof — most projects draw on more than one of these at once.

  • Brand & Visual Design

Brand identity, visual systems, campaign and promotional design, and the practical assets a brand actually needs day to day.

  • Editorial & Report Design

Reports, publications, annual reports, presentations, flyers, posters, and other communication-heavy design work.

  • Web & Digital

Small websites, landing pages, digital communication, and interface and information design.

  • Social Content & Templates

Reusable branded social assets and template systems that make routine content easier to produce without starting from zero.

  • Accessible Communication

Accessible design practice for digital and document-based communication, including WCAG, accessible PDFs, and InDesign, Word, and Acrobat workflows.

  • Design Systems & Workflow

Templates, production systems, reusable assets, file organization, and workflow improvements that reduce repetitive design work.

How I work

  1. Understand the actual problem. Before anything gets designed, I want to know what already exists, what isn’t working, and what the business needs day to day.
  2. Identify what needs to be created, cleaned up, or simplified. Sometimes that’s a new design. Sometimes it’s fixing what’s already there.
  3. Build the design — and the system behind it. Where it makes sense, the result isn’t just a finished piece, it’s a reusable template, a set of organized files, or a repeatable process.
  4. Hand over something you can actually keep using. Organized files, clear guidance, and tools set up properly — not just a deliverable that’s admired once and then forgotten.

Beyond the first project

Not everything ends when a project is delivered. Some clients continue with 18 Tabs for ongoing creative support, or for maintenance and updates to systems and templates already in place.

Work is available as defined projects, ongoing creative support, or maintenance on existing systems — worked out based on what’s actually useful, not a fixed retainer nobody asked for.

Built on 20+ years of practice

18 Tabs Studio is a new, independent practice — but the work behind it isn’t. It draws on more than twenty years across brand identity, editorial and publication design, web and digital projects, accessibility, and production systems, reflected in the range of services above.

About

I’m Alli Wedler — a graphic and UI designer with more than twenty years of experience across brand identity, editorial and publication design, web and digital work, accessibility, and production systems.

Over that time, the same pattern kept showing up: a business doesn’t just need another design, it needs the pieces around the design to work better together — the template nobody can find, the workflow only one person understands, the system that was never actually built.

18 Tabs Studio grew out of that recognition. It’s a small, independent studio based in Niagara, Ontario, built on the idea that good design and a good system behind it aren’t two different jobs.
